The story of the John the Baptist, from Matthew 3, Luke 1, 3; John 1
Big Idea for Parents
This is a great story to tell your kids about Jesus baptism and their own baptism. We are joined to Jesus in baptism (Romans 6:3-5), which means that his baptism becomes our baptism as well. God feels the same way about those who believe and are baptized as he does about Jesus: “You are my own child, whom I love. I am well pleased with you.” You can tell your child(ren) that because of Jesus, God is glad to be their Father!
What do you think happens when we are baptized?
Depending on how old you were, you may or may not remember your baptism. But when we read about Jesus baptism, we learn about our own baptism as well! Let’s read about what happened when Jesus was baptized (read pages 200-207).

What incredible things happened when you were baptized?
Dear God, thank you for the gift of baptism where you receive us as your children and promise to never let go. Help us to remember the promises you’ve made to us when we sin, are afraid or worried. In Jesus name, Amen.
